My very good friend, Sandy, and her mom have started a new diaper cake business. Recently featured on NJ’s premier online news magazine, Write On NJ, I was excited to find out exactly how Mom and Me Diaper Cakes got its start and how it stands apart from the rest.

I’ve known Sandy since she was 18 years old when she worked at Olive Garden with my ex, Wade. We hit it off right away and for many years we were the Three Amigos, barely ever seen apart. She even got a job working at the same company where I work. Eventually, she met her future husband, Steve and Wade and I broke up so the Three Amigos were no more. But she’s very dear to me and we’ve still remained good friends…

Three and a half years ago Sandy & Steve had their first child, Evan. He’s a great kid and a real man’s boy. He loves cars and trucks and especially the movie, Cars. After having Evan, it seemed like more and more people Sandy knew where having babies and baby showers. Sandy and her mom, Deb, starting making diaper cakes for some of those showers. “My mom and I were making diaper cakes for friends’ and family’s showers,” Sandy told me the other day, “and so many people started asking us how much we would charge to make them a diaper cake. And that’s how Mom and Me Diaper Cakes got started.

But Mom and Me Diaper Cakes is much more than just cakes. Sandy and her Mom have come up with clever designs that take Diaper Cakes to a whole new level. Of course, the standard three-tiered diaper cake is available but it can be customized to any theme you desire. In addition to the standard cakes, custom designs, like Pirate Ships, Crosses, and Castles are available for purchase at prices that range from $60 to $80.

This Pirate Ship is perfect for the mom-to-be who's having a little boy.

A sampling of cakes are pictured over at www.momandmediapercakes.com. But these are just a few examples of what can be done. Diaper cakes are only limited by your imagination. Have a specific theme or simply looking for suggestions? Visit their Contact Us page and ask them for some help.

Diaper cakes make the perfect gift for a baby shower. Besides being useful (most cakes come with 60+ diapers), they are unique, decorative, require no cutting and serving, and have zero calories. Got an upcoming baby shower? Make sure you stop by Mom and Me Diaper Cakes for the best diaper cakes around.

Very cool. Love the idea and I’ll have to remember that for the next shower. Reminds me of a cool towel cake I got for a bridal shower gift.
